The PC port of Dark Souls shows Xbox 360 game controller buttons on its in-game messages and the UI. However, I'm playing with a mouse and a keyboard. This makes learning the controls a bit awkward.
What are the equivalent (default) PC keyboard keys and mouse buttons of the Xbox 360 game controller buttons shown on the screen?

Source(s): I've got Dark Souls. The keyboard controls are really not intuitive but all of the above are what you get. The in-game hints system is pretty much useless as it lists the keys for the 360 controller. For example, when telling you to do a critical attack it was listed as 'when falling, press RB' - menus didn't say what that was but it's easy to work out when you start playing.
My advice is - get a controller. The game is very fun and playable with the keyboard and mouse but you will probably start to hate life, especially with the lock on if you're using a mouse since it is highly sensitive and just pressing one of the attack buttons can switch targets so your attack misses and you die.

The mouse really isn't all that useful when playing this game, it mostly just messes with your camera, unless you're a serious gamer and got one of those gaming mouses with all the fancy knobs and buttons.I've been playing this for about 3 hours now, but being I've found some things that aren't on here (I like lists)

In the menu, Alt=Y; E=X; Space=B; Q=A; Backspace=Cancel; and switching between various menus and such is accomplished by use of the arrowkeys
galacticninja is correct in that there are a bunch contoller buttons that don't have key equivalents, but I'm pretty sure that there'll be updates that'll help

I was looking for some advice on how to play Dark Souls on PC with keyboard/mouse. I want to start the game(s) and I'm not comfortable using a Gamepad, so.. Is it possible to finish the games without a gamepad and can you teach me to play that game with keyboard?

D'artagnan. Sure, Dark Souls can be played using the keyboard and the mouse.
If you can use keyboard/mouse in the meaning of if it's harder: there is no objective answer for it. Some players might prefer using the gamepad, some may prefer using the keyboard/mouse combo. If you want to hear my opinion I went better with keyboard/mouse maybe because I don't play with the controller a lot.
You also requested somebody to teach you how to play it with the keyboard. You can find the standard key mapping for controlling the character on this wiki page. It's the basic WASD controlling that is used for most of the games where you control a character. The camera angle is controlerd and attacks are started with the mouse and it's buttons.

Dark Souls 1 actually works horribly with the mouse.
The game did not port the controls properly, and when you use the mouse it moves around as if you have a grid, so you lose a LOT of precision control.
There are 3rd party mods for it to make it simulate an analog control, but you get weird artifacts like acceleration. It still ends up being better than vanilla mode.
The experience with keyboard and mouse on the vanilla game is absolutely atrocious. It is borderline unplayable.
There are older versions of the mod that does not work with the latest patch, so you'll have to hunt around for the latest release. It's been years since I played DS1, and I don't have access to my usual system, so I can't look up how I setup my system, but I did get quite far before playing DS2.

My biggest annoyance with Dark Souls 3, as I wrote in our PC Performance Analysis, was the complete lack of proper keyboard on-screen indicators. While the game runs great and is really enjoyable with keyboard+mouse (thanks mainly to the more precise camera movement), it only displays gamepad buttons, thus making menu navigation a nightmare. So I’m happy to report today that a mod is currently under development that will address this issue.
Created by modder ‘kelester’, this mod for Dark Souls 3 changes the icons for the PC version. However, this mod is not complete yet. For example, there are some issues with currency of letters (the game shows Roll as “Q” for example) and some icons have not been changed yet. After all, and as the title, suggests, this is a WIP mod.
Still, this is better than nothing and we are pretty sure that those using keyboard and mouse – instead of a gamepad – will really appreciate this mod. It’s just sad that FromSoftware never officially addressed this issue and we have to rely on mods in order to properly play the game with this specific control scheme.
I seriously hope that FromSoftware’s next title, SEKIDO, will be more friendly to keyboard and mouse players. Because, and as we’ve said countless times, these third-person games can be fully enjoyable with keyboard and mouse. So don’t start saying that they were built for controllers because that’s a really old, clueless and incorrect claim.
